New Contemporary Art Graduates of UCSD @ South Devon College present an original multimedia exhibition at Artizan Collective Gallery in Torquay Artizan Collective Gallery proudly presents What Matters Most? a bold and energetic showcase of work by students from University Centre South Devon. What Matters Most? This is the reflective question that 6 Degrees South have aimed to answer in their upcoming exhibition, resulting in a showcase of art that conveys a wide curiosity and appreciation for the world around us. The exhibition follows the return of the gallery’s student programme, once again offering a vital platform for new voices and fresh perspectives in the visual arts. 6 Degrees South is a collective of six artists graduating from FdA Contemporary Arts Practice, who have worked on numerous collaborative projects during their time studying together. This exhibition makes the important and transitional journey from practicing artists to rising professionals. This April, the Artizan Collective Gallery invites you to celebrate the bay’s latest artistic voices, and most importantly, to partake in your own individual reflection of significance. Featuring Eve Butler, Joanna Ward, Mason Johnstone, Samuel Bailey-Merritt, Ruby Brown and Azriel Silvester. What Matters Most? contains a variety of intimate and heartfelt contemplations, from discussing personal encounters with solitude, the unseen depths of mental health, the concept of identity and the importance of preserving our environment and the future. Expect film, sculpture, fashion, painting and mixed-media pieces as this exhibition aims to reconcile multiple personal topics through a multitude of techniques and materials. What Matters Most? offers a dynamic viewer experience and insight into the practices of these early-career creatives, curating a reflective atmosphere that authentically expresses the hopes and aspirations of 6 Degrees South. Speaking about the importance of the exhibition, Jacob Brandon, Director of Artizan Collective CIC, said: “Supporting new and innovative work from emerging artists is one of the most vital things we can do as a creative venue. These exhibitions are where the future of arts practice begins—where fresh ideas are tested, and where early steps into the professional art world are taken.
